The Relationship Between Compliance in Undergoing Hemodialysis Therapy and Quality of Life of Chronic Kidney Failure Patients at the Hemodialysis Unit of BMC Mayapada Hospital, Bogor City in 2019

Abstract

Introduction: Based on WHO data in 2013, patients with kidney failure reached 50%. The incidence of kidney failure in the world is estimated to be more than 500 million people and who have to live with the needs of hemodialysis) 1.5 million people. Based on a preliminary study in the hemodialysis room of BMC Mayapada Hospital which was carried out in March 2019 2018 there were 38 hemodialysis patients and in 2019 there were 42 patients who performed hemodialysis so based on the data obtained showed an increase in the number of patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy Problem Formulation: there is a relationship between adherence to hemodialysis therapy and the quality of life of patients with chronic renal failure in the hemodialysis room of BMC Mayapada Hospital in 2019"

Methods: The research design in this study was quantitative, with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study were 42 people with chronic kidney failure who were undergoing hemodialysis twice a week at BMC Mayapada Hospital. The sampling technique is total sampling.

Results: Based on the analysis, respondents who had a good quality of life were mostly obedient to undergoing dialysis therapy 23 (54.7%) of respondents. From the results of the Chi Square test, a P value of 0.004 was obtained from the results of the Odds Ratio (OR) value of 9.587, meaning that the chances of obedient hemodial patients undergoing dialysis therapy were 9.587 times greater to obtain a good quality of life compared to patients who were not adherent.

Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between adherence to dialysis therapy management and the quality of hemodialysis patients.
